‘An axe for the frozen sea within us:’ U Historian W. Paul Reeve Named as Presidential Societal Impact Scholar
U of U historian W. Paul Reeve was named one of the 2026-2027 Presidential Societal Impact Scholars. In just the past five years, Reeve has instigated several ground-breaking public history databases hosted at the Marriott Library’s digital exhibits site. His work has included extraordinary outreach, bridge-building and communal healing in uncovering the history of Black Mormons among members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Dee Grant Awards Support Eight Humanities Proposals for Teaching Innovation
Eight faculty proposals in the College of Humanities have been awarded Dee Grants to pursue teaching projects that will advance student learning during the 2026-2027 academic year. The grants, awarded by the Council of Dee Fellows, are intended to “infuse new energy and teaching techniques into the educational experience at the University.”

Meet the Dean
Wanda S. Pillow is a professor of Gender Studies, and she has served as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and former chair of the Gender Studies Division in the School for Cultural and Social Transformation. She is currently serving as Dean of the College of Humanities.
